The Royals go for their seventh straight win in this postseason

The Royals can’t seem to stop winning and they will try to take a 3-0 lead in the American League Championship Series against the visiting Orioles, who have lost the battle of the bullpens in the first two games of the series.

It’s already an uphill battle for Baltimore, as no team has come back from an 0-2 hole in the American League Championship Series after losing the first two contests at home.

The Orioles are getting consistent production from Nelson Cruz, who has recorded multiple hits in each of the first five games of the postseason and Adam Jones hit his first postseason home run in Game 2, but Nick Markakis and J.J. Hardy were a combined 0-for-8 in the loss.

Baltimore won’t get back in this series unless setup man Darren O’Day and closer Zach Britton bounce back, as they have combined to allow four runs on four hits and three walks in this series.

Most of the sportsbooks that OddsBay has visited have the Orioles at -109, the Royals at -101 and the total at 7½.

Pitching Matchup:

Wei-Yin Chen (0-0, 12.27 ERA) vs. Jeremy Guthrie (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Wei-Yin Chen gave up five runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Tigers but he was bailed out by the offense. Chen gave up two home runs in that contest and he was reached for 29 home runs in 32 regular season appearances.

Jeremy Guthrie will make his first postseason appearance in his career. Guthrie played with the Orioles for five years without making the postseason before leaving via free agency in 2012. He allowed one earned run in 20 1/3 innings over his last three starts, but he has not pitched since September 26.
